Playschool Registration

Check the Calendar of Events for the dates and time for pre-registration for current members, alumni and general public. Download the pre-registration package from the Forms & Fees page. There are 19 spots available for the General Public Registration; 10 of those spots will be reserved for Riverbend Community League members until noon on registration day (March 13th), after which we will begin contacting families on the waiting list.

About the Playschool

Riverbend Playschool is a friendly, vibrant environment for children in the two years before kindergarten. It is located centrally in the Riverbend community, next to Earl Buxton Elementary School, in the Riverbend Community Centre, and has been in operation for over 25 years. There are both morning and afternoon classes available — two days per week for 3-year-olds, and three days per week for 4-year-olds (mornings or afternoons). We now also offer a 3/4-year-old combined class on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.

The school curriculum and activities foster the principle of “Learning Through Play,” and children are encouraged to be creative, playful, social, respectful and helpful. Our school is “Cooperative” in that all parents participate in the school’s operations. There are many different roles parents may choose to play, from preparing crafts, to sorting toys, to participating on the executive. With so many different opportunities for involvement, there is something for everyone. Each parent also has an assigned day every few weeks (how often depends upon class size) where he or she helps in the classroom.

The Riverbend Playschool is a registered Society. A copy of its bylaws is available upon request.
