Executive Positions

(Brief Job Summary)

President

Chair and facilitate all executive and general meetings. Responsible for the general management and supervision of the playschool. Act as a liaison between parents, executive and teacher(s).

Vice-President

Attend and represent the playschool at Riverbend Community League meetings (position shared with Public Relations Rep.). Handle all licensing and legal/corporate affairs for the Playschool Society. Compile and update the Parent’s Handbook.

Treasurer

Maintain accounting books and prepare monthly and year-end financial statements at executive meetings. Administer all banking.

Secretary

Handle all general correspondence for the playschool. Take minutes of Executive and General Meetings.

Registrar

Act as contact person on all advertisements for new membership. Answer questions from potential new members. Distribute and collect registration forms, registration fees, post-dated tuition cheques, and duty bond cheques.

Job Coordinator

Ensure all jobs are assigned prior to the fall General Meeting.  Distribute copies of assigned job descriptions and maintain current summary of assigned positions.

Newsletter Representative

Create and distribute the Riverbend Playschool Newsletter every month.

Public Relations Representative

Responsible for all playschool advertising and publicity. Arrange for a professional photographer to come in and take pictures in October. Attend and represent the playschool at Riverbend Community League meetings (position shared with Vice-President.).

Casino Chairperson

Responsible for coordinating volunteers with the fundraising committee.  Maintain and file license applications.  Liaise with the fundraising committee for purchases, ensuring they meet the conditions of the license and are provided to the Treasurer.




Class Duties

(Brief Job Summary)

Class Representative (person/class) 

Provide administrative support as requested by teachers or registrar for individual class.

Assist the teacher(s) with organizing the Halloween, Christmas, Valentines, Easter, and Graduation parties.

Cleaning Bee Committee  (16-18 people)

On the second Saturday of every month, a group of six (6) parents will attend their schedule cleaning bee times. Each cleaning bee takes approximately two to three hours.

Cleaning Bee Coordinator  (1 person)

Organize materials and committee members for cleaning bees.  Obtain a list of items to be cleaned from the teachers for each cleaning bee.

Craft Preparation (1 person/class)

Prepare materials and crafts including cutting, painting, and coloring as requested by the teacher(s).

Field Trip Coordinator  (1 person) 

Assist teachers with booking field trips and make additions to a resource binder of possible trips.

Fundraising Committee  (2 people)

Work together with other Committee member and the Casino Chair to present a new proposal for the school year on current students.

Laundry Person  (2 person)

 Collect, wash and return laundry at least one time per week or as needed. 

Librarian  (3 people)

Receive and process all new books and reshelf according to color code categories.

Memory Book (2 people/class)

Prepare a memory book (photographs/art work/stickers) for each student in the class to be distributed on the last day of classes

Paint Person  (1 person)

Clean and refill paint pots and brushes on easel each week.

Photographer  (1 person/class)

Purchase film, take pictures at all special events, and have the film developed.

Play Dough  (1 person)

Make play dough (outside of classroom time) twice per month and wash play dough toys.

Recyclable Products  (1 person)

One time per week and as needed remove any recyclable waste products from the playschool and set up and maintain a storage/collection system for recyclables within the classroom.

Scholastic Coordinator  (1 person)

Coordinate Scholastic book orders.  Bring the books to the playschool for distribution.

Sewing/Mending  (1 person)

Sew items for the playschool based on teachers’ requests and mend/repair existing items as required.

Sharing Day Administrator  (1 person/class)

Prepare, distribute, and maintain the sharing day roster for the class. 

Supplies/Shopping  (2 people)

Purchase supplies for the playschool.

Theme Changer  (2 people)

Take down and put up new borders and theme-related materials on the bulletin boards (monthly).

Website Coordinator  (1 person)                 

Maintain and update the website.
